It's hard to believe that Saoirse Ronan has only just turned twenty. For the past seven years, since her role in Atonement, Ronan has been unstoppable in her charge up the ladder to Hollywood superstardom. The young Irish actress has received BAFTA, Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations; and in doing so has worked with some of the best names in Tinseltown. Obviously recognising her talents in Atonement, Peter Jackson cast Ronan as the lead in his 2009 movie The Lovely Bones. The film, based on the best-selling novel, was pre-determined to be a box-office success. The faith that Jackson put in the young Ronan tells you a lot about where this girl's career is headed. In 2010 she worked with her fellow Irishman Colin Farrell in the Peter Weir directed The Way Back. This was followed up in 2011 with Hanna, where she took the lead role in the action thriller also starring Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett. 2013 saw her hook up with Last King of Scotland director Kevin Macdonald in the drama How I Live Now, and most recently she can be seen in Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel. By the age of twenty Ronan has been cast by some of the most talented directors working today, that doesn't happen by accident. For her the only way is up.
