The younger sister of Dakota (who was unfortunately cut from the list), Elle Fanning is going to embark on the career that many thought her sister would have. Star of the new Disney hit Maleficent, Fanning's star has been on the rise for a number of years. Following roles in Reservation Road and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fanning really came into her own in Sofia Coppola's drama Somewhere. Playing the daughter of a washed-up out of work actor (Stephen Dorff) the sixteen year old was the best thing on screen. Fanning excelled in her understated role, and in one performance proved that she was more than your average child star. A year later seen her get a starring role in J.J Abrams homage to E.T; the alien movie Super 8. Again Fanning proved she could deal with the weight of a film on her young shoulders. Abrams may love his effects and CGI, but Super 8 relied heavily on the ability of its young stars. Perhaps not quite the hit Abrams had been hoping for, it was certainly no fault of the actors. With Maleficent still in the cinemas, Elle Fanning is one who will be getting a lot of attention at the moment. Starring Angelina Jolie, Disney have pumped a lot of money into this venture and it may well be the film to push Fanning up another level and into stardom.
