10 Sacred Films That Should Never Be Remade

Please, Hollywood - never remake any of these.

Imagine you€™re a film studio executive. Your job is to pick the movies that will make millions and put them into production. And an established brand name with a ready-made audience can be a tempting proposition when you€™re in such a position. That€™s why we get so many reboots, remakes, sequels and spin-offs to existing properties; a recognisable name can put bums on seats like nothing else. If a film was a massive hit at the box office, even if a long time has passed since its initial release, you can be fairly confident that people will flock down to the multiplex to see a new take. The problem with this is simple: some films are perfect. They can€™t be remade any better than they were originally made. Yes, audiences will probably still go see them out of intrigue, but they€™re not going to happy when they witness a shoddy rehash of one of their favourite movies. Remakes often make money, but they rarely make audiences happy. Indeed, they often do the very opposite, inspiring bitter vitriol in articles, comments sections and lengthy discussions down the pub. Here are ten examples of films that Hollywood should never even consider remaking, unless they deliberately want to enrage us all in exchange for an easy buck...
