10 Sacred Movie Franchises That Should Never Be Remade Or Rebooted
1. Back to the Future
If it wasn't for Bobs Zemeckis and Gale's refusal to let go of the rights, then you could have bet your house on Back to the Future being remade or rebooted by now.
Luckily for us, the duo know that full well, and have consistently refused any offers to sell up because they're more than aware that it will almost instantly lead to a new version of the beloved franchise being fast-tracked into production, and no matter what level of talent ended up involved there's no way it would be a worthwhile endeavor.
Following a widely-circulated deepfake video that replaced Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd with Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr., the Spider-Man actor admitted that conversations had taken place about the idea, but Zemeckis' widely-attributed quote surrounding any new version of Back to the Future has always been 'over my dead body'.
They will literally need to pry the rights from his cold, dead fingers before it has any chance of becoming a reality, and given the frequently unscrupulous nature of Hollywood and those that dwell in its darkest reaches, that's probably exactly what's going to happen.
