10 Saddest Horror Movie Moments

2. Jin-Hee and Yong-Guk's Deaths - Train To Busan

The horror of Train to Busan, as described by director Yeon Sang-ho, was "selfishness spreading like a disease". Even amid a zombie apocalypse, the people trapped on the eponymous train cannot let go of their selfishness, their distrust and hatred for their fellow man. So many good, kind people die horrific deaths because of the selfishness of a hateful few. And easily the saddest are poor Jin-Hee and Yong-Guk.

The film's climax is an utter bloodbath, as true antagonist, Yon-suk, uses most of the remaining characters as human shields between him and the zombies. One of the victims along the way is young Jin-Hee, who gets bitten by one of the zombies chasing after Yon-Suk.

Yong-Guk, safely avoiding being bitten, could just run. Jin-Hee is pretty thoroughly dead at this point, and soon to become a zombie. But instead, he holds her head in his lap, and just waits for her to turn, choosing death over leaving the girl he loves to die alone and afraid. If nothing else, his death is mercifully quick.

Watching these two innocents die, just so an old, rich parasite can live just a little bit longer, is as infuriating as it is heartbreaking.
