3. O J Simpson
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykRt3_2BXeQ A former NFL superstar, Orenthal James Simpson tried his hand at acting and gained some success with a role in disaster film epic The Towering Inferno and the Naked Gun films. He married his second wife Nicole Brown in 1985 and they had two children. In June 1994, Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman were found brutally slain outside OJ's condo. A warrant for his arrest was issued and this led to the infamous slow car chase between the LAPD and OJ in his white Bronco which gripped millions of TV viewers. They went on to become even more transfixed by OJ's trial in 1995. Billed as the 'Trial of the Century', the whole case was saturated in media coverage. Millions of people tuned into the verdict - not guilty. Obviously Nicole Brown's and Ron Goldman's families were not too happy and they instigated a civil suit against Simpson in which he was found culpable for both murders and ordered to pay $35,000,000 to the families of the deceased. So OJ may not be the de facto murderer but he has been found guilty in a civil case. It is a shame that civil cases can not result in a formal retrial. It was all downhill for OJ from there on - accusations of being involved in drug trafficking plus a robbery in Las Vegas which resulted in him serving time - 39 years in prison is his sentence. Pity he isn't also serving two additional sentences for murder. This was a scandal that not only shook Hollywood but made an impression on the public at large.
