While The Xenomorph in the original Alien movies was done with practical effects, in Ridley Scott's recent additions to the series have included a CGI Xenomorph, allowing for an alien that is more mobile and animalistic. This is impressive considering the mobility shown in the orginal design.

While the recent Alien movies have had a mixed reception, the Xenomorph has been a terrifying creature from the first movie. Appearing to move silently and with incredible speed, the Xenomorph takes out the entire crew of the Nostromo aside from Ripley.

The fear is upped by the gruesome nature in which a Xenomorph is born. Most audiences who have seen Alien will remember the face-hugger, and the horrific scene in which the baby Xenomorph bursts from the chest of Kane, John Hurt's character, as he sits down to eat with the rest of the crew.

The Xenomorph has stuck around as one of the most iconic movie monsters, with Alien remaining a classic horror movie over 40 years after its release. Even with the growth in alien films, the Xenomorph still holds a special place of fear in audiences' hearts.
