In Steven Soderbergh's spooky drama Presence, Chloe Payne and her family move into a new house, only to learn it's inhabited by an unseen presence.

Similar to Good Boy, the story plays out through the Presence's POV instead of the human characters. Although we get to know the Paynes in detail, every shot represents what the Presence sees. There isn't a single moment where the ghost isn't present, so the atmosphere never dies down, even when nothing of importance seems to be happening.

It's an inventive idea, but it could come across as gimmicky if Chloe's family weren't particularly interesting. However, viewers get immersed in each of the Paynes' personal struggles, so it's easy to forget there's a spectre constantly looming over them, which makes it more eerie when it interacts. It's unsettling when the camera zooms towards Chloe's family or hovers over them, as it's apparent the Presence is studying them, while they are none the wiser.

As secrets are unearthed and the Presence's identity is revealed, it becomes evident there may be someone else more dangerous than the family's unwanted visitor, magnifying the scares exponentially.
