10 Scariest Movie & TV Clowns

Art the Clown's black and white design was designed to make him look different to other more colourful clowns featured in films. He does not laugh or make jokes, he is just creepily quiet. His previous appearance in short film The 9th Circle are also hints that he is possibly a demon.

Set in an abandoned apartment building, the film is basically played to shock and disgust the viewer, with Art being a particularly nasty piece of work with his ever-present grin as he randomly terrorises two girls he encounters.

The low budget and practical effects make the kills more imaginative and gory. Art is never given any motive other than his straightforward desire to hurt and torture people, which makes him pretty terrifying. He has some very brutal scenes including the movie’s most infamous one where he saws a hanging naked girl in half vertically.

The film ends with Art eating the face off a girl he has knocked unconscious before shooting himself in the head when the police arrive. He somehow revives in the coroner’s office and escapes, before the girl's deformed face is revealed in the hospital. A follow up sequel is due later in 2020, or early 2021.
