10 Scariest Movie & TV Clowns
7. Richard Grindle - Stitches (2012)
Starring British comedian Ross Noble as Stitches the Clown, the film shows him giving a terrible performance at a birthday party, when one of the boys ties his shoes together, leading to a horrific accident where he falls headfirst into a massive knife sticking out of the dishwasher in front of all the children.
Stitches returns as a zombie six years later to terrorise birthday boy Tom and his friends in a retaliation attack for his death. He rises from the dead with scars all over his face, and returns to take his revenge.
He proceeds to enact some very creepy stalking scenes, interspersed with some gory, but still clown-themed kills, including ramming his arm down one victim’s throat to pull out a rabbit and disembowelling another victim before turning his intestines into a balloon animal!
Stitches is very scary and bloody, but also funny and entertaining. There is a strange sub-plot where we find out that all clowns receive an egg with their face painted on it (which is actually true in order to copyright their makeup design), and they can only be killed when this is destroyed (this is not so true!). The ending sets us up for a sequel, with the Stitches egg being repaired, but so far this has not materialised.
