10 Scariest Movies Where No One Dies

4. The Entity

Conjuring 2 Crooked Man
20th Century Fox

Released in 1982, The Entity may be the most unsettling and upsetting film on this list, and the lack of onscreen death should not make viewers assume it's an easy watch.

Potentially difficult viewing for many, this disturbing ghost story follows a woman repeatedly sexually assaulted by a poltergeist, and the dark film's handling of the material is surprisingly serious and bone deep chilling.

The film's disquieting atmosphere and troubling content are made all the creepier by the lack of resolution that an onscreen death would provide, with the story left open-ended and providing a rare case of horror depicting a traumatized protagonist surviving their ordeal to try and return to normal life.
