6. Replicas
Release Date: September 7, 2016 Hollywood Marmite Keanu Reeves is back doing what he does best in sci-fi thriller Replicas, the story of a neuroscientist whose wife and children meet their untimely end in a tragic car accident. Reeves character believes that he has to know-how and the tools to bring his loved ones back to life, though he faces opposition from the police, the government, and, perhaps most importantly, the laws of nature. It is rare that Keanu receives much love, but the Matrix star has been in a rich vein of form as of late and even his biggest critics will find that hard to deny. This year's Knock Knock fell victim to Eli Roth's obsession with taking interesting premises and turning them into torture porn, but 2013s Man of Tai Chi was an unexpected hit for Reeves and John Wick was one of, if not the best action film of 2014. It is Reeves return to sci-fi that has fans of the genre getting excited, however, as he reunites with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. During his time at Warner Bros, the film producer not only pulled off a major coup for the studio in convincing JK Rowling to give them the nod for Harry Potter, but also discovered The Matrix and dedicated himself to shepherding it all the way to the big screen.
