Again, as mentioned earlier in this list not all these movies are perfect (though this underrated gem is a lot better than the likes of Apollo 18).

With a cracking cast including Jake Gyllenhall and Rebecca Ferguson, 2017's intense Alien knock-off Life is blessed with some killer spooky sequences and an inventive monster design in the form of the ever-evolving Calvin.

The film may suffer with a pointlessly bleak ending worthy of The Outer Limits, but nonetheless this one elevated itself by breaking one of the cardinal rules of sci fi horror.

Inspired by Alien's daring decision to off John Hurt in its opening scenes, Life audaciously kills off mega star Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds almost immediately, leaving audiences shook and uncertain who (if anyone) is safe from this flick.
