10 Scrapped Video Game Movies We're Still Dying To See

7. Metroid

metroid A Duke movie might have been kicking around for a long time, but so too has one for Metroid, one of Nintendo's most popular franchises and easily their best-suited for a high-budget, live action movie, when compared with, say, Zelda and Mario. Our hearts all skipped a beat when John Woo obtained the rights for the property in 2004, and we've been eagerly - albeit less-so with every passing year - waiting for news ever since. Despite Woo having acquired the rights almost a decade ago, the movie never made it past the scriptment stage, reportedly because Nintendo proved so difficult to work with due to the abject failure of the horrendous(ly funny) Super Mario Bros. movie. The main issue was apparently how to depict Samus when not in battle, and because of that, we all lost out on what could have been another action classic from John Woo.
