10 Secrets From The Set Of Ridley Scott's Alien

8. A German Shepherd Upset Jones

Speaking of Brett's death scene, just before he's suddenly killed by the deadly Xenomorph, the little legend known as Jones the cat lets him know that trouble is very much coming. To get the ginger feline to hiss the way Scott wanted for the moment it caught a glimpse of the titular alien, though, the director had to rely on some quite unique assistance.

On the day, Scott and his crew had a German Shepard on a leash. The dog was standing behind a board in front of the cat that wasn't behaving how Ridley needed it to. With the big canine safely held back so it wouldn't hurt the kitty, Scott then pulled up the board and captured the well-delivered hiss from this furry performer.

Scott was looking for a reaction that looked like the cat saying "WHAT?!" And that's precisely what he got in the end, with this ginger Nostromo crew member getting quite the real fright before hopefully receiving all the belly rubs and treats afterwards.
