10 Seemingly Brilliant Movie Casting Choices Which Ultimately Fell Flat
4. Oscar Isaac As Apocalypse - X-Men: Apocalypse
Speaking of X-Men castings which originally looked like a great idea, I give you Oscar Isaac as iconic X-Villain Apocalypse.
After Days of Future Past (2014) went down a storm with fans and critics alike, you could forgive Oscar Isaac for jumping at the chance to work with some of the finest performers of his generation in the highly anticipated follow-up to the time travelling smash hit. Casting him as the mesmerising Apocalypse seemed like a no-brainer too, as he'd proven in films like Ex Machina (2015) that he could more than handle the role of sinister antagonist.
Yet, while Ex Machina allowed us to actually see the actor's expressive face and body, and therefore react to it, the creators of X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) had other ideas.
Encasing Isaac in a mix of uncomfortable prosthetics and a 40 pound suit, the actor soon regretted his decision to battle against the X-Men. When the film was finally released, fans were deprived of a truly compelling performance as the world's first mutant due to Isaac barely being able to move his head on set and the character's costume severely hindering his ability to actually, you know, act.
And J-Law thought she had it bad, eh?
