10 Sequels To Classic Movies You Had No Idea Existed
7. The Jerk, Too
The Jerk made Steve Martin a star in 1979, and today proves that there was never a time he didnt have grey hair. He had no interest in making a follow-up, but he is credited as a producer on this long forgotten TV movie. The Jerk, Too was intended to launch a TV series, but it was so hated by those unlucky enough to see it that the show never came to pass. It currently holds a grim 2.9 star rating on IMDb. Mark Blankfield steps into Martins shoes as Navin Johnson, who possesses none of the charm or comic timing. Most of the negative reviews centre on how annoying and unlikeable his performance is, with lots of hilarious physical comedy and wacky facial expressions. Elsewhere it looks incredibly cheap, the supporting cast are horribly stilted and the cheesy sitcom music score seems designed to hurt the eardrums. Its doubtful The Jerk, Too had any real chance of succeeding without Martin in the lead, but this painfully unfunny continuation was a real slap in the face to fans of the original.
