Release Date: August 26, 2016 The Mechanic was a rudimentary action movie released in 2011, starring Jason Statham as a hitman whose speciality was making his kills look like the result of an accident. Mechanic: Resurrection is a sequel to that movie - one that took 5 years to make, for some reason. The plot picks up with Statham's retired protagonist being forced back to work. Did Jason Statham just feel like slipping back into the shoes of a familiar role, despite the fact that all of his roles are exactly the same regardless of what movie or franchise they're part of? Whatever the reason this belated sequel has to exist, it's in the hands of director Dennis Gansel, who has proven himself to be filmmaker of the hit and miss variety. Just in case you weren't sold on the idea of Mechanic: Resurrection, or are momentarily stunned in having just discovered it's set to be released in 2016, the movie will also star the beautifully talentless Jessica Alba and Tommy Lee Jones in a role that will no doubt be referred to in the reviews as "appropriately crabby." Can the man do anything else?
