The day when the zombie apocalypse finally comes probably won't be much different from any other day. You will still get up early to go to work, or you'll take out the dog for a walk before going to bed. It will all seem to be fine, until the first scream is heard not that far away.

In the film I Am a Hero, protagonist Hideo Suzuki doesn't notice anything is wrong until it's too late. Fortunately, Hideo possesses a unique skill that will be quite handy once the hordes of the undead start getting bigger and bigger. Not his superb talent as a manga artist, but his unforgiving accuracy behind a single-barreled shotgun.

Throughout the movie, we learn that Hideo has been shy and introverted during his entire life. Not wanting to cause any discomfort for those around him, while falling victim to the underserved bullying of unscrupulous people. Once the reality of the apocalypse sets in, Hideo starts to nurture a sense of self-confidence he never knew before.

Wouldn't you know it? With this new-found sense of self-worth, Hideo can finally tap into his full potential and become the brave man (and sniper) that was hidden beneath the surface.
