7. Rey Is A Palpatine
Rey's parentage is one of the most pressing questions The Force Awakens left behind and it's a topic that's inspired some wild fan theories, from the character being everything from a clone, to Obi Wan Kenobi's granddaughter.
Another theory, discussed at length by Vincent Vendetta on his YouTube channel, suggests Rey could be a descendent of Emperor Palpatine.
Vendetta cites a lorryload of evidence to support his claims, drawing detailed comparisons between the two characters' fighting style and pointing out that she hears the Emperor's voice in her vision in The Force Awakens.
The Palpatine similarities could even be what Luke recognises in Rey on Ahch-To, and is the reason he refuses to take her training any further.
Perhaps the Obi Wan theory is more plausible, but this is a twist that would be wholly more shocking, and one which would give Rey some inner darkness as well as light. She's going to need both if her path ends up being that of a 'grey' Jedi.
