10 Signs Warner Bros. Have No Clue About Batman V Superman
9. The Date Has Been Moved (Twice)
It's already been established that next year is going to be a massive one for blockbuster movies. And it was originally going to be bigger - when first announced, Batman V Superman was set for a 2015 release. It was only pushed back to 2016 when it became apparent Warner Bros. had got a little overexcited, setting a date before pre-production had even began. That wasn't the end of Dawn Of Justice's release date journey - when Captain America 3 moved into the same May weekend, Warner shockingly pushed it forward to March. Now we know that Marvel movie is actually an adaptation of super-arc Civil War that decision seems a little smarter, but it doesn't show a great sense of hope in the movie's long-term quality. March is the graveyard shift of cinematic releases - too late for Oscar contenders, but far too early for big blockbusters. It's where questionable movies the studio doesn't know what to do with a thrown out in the hope they'll take advantage of the lack of competition (see also Jupiter Ascending, which after initially securing a July 2014 slot was pushed back to February next year). Moving away from Marvel suggests Warner don't expect their movie to have the legs to compete with Captain America vs. Iron Man, which is a shocking thing to think.
