10 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made MCU Phase Two Awesome

10. The Villains Needed To Be Stronger

The one consistent complaint about Marvel€™s output is that they lack strong villains, outside of maybe Loki. Phase Two really highlighted this problem with a whole line-up of weak sauce villains and their lame plans for global domination. The Elves from Thor: The Dark World were almost laughably unthreatening, Cross from Ant-Man was a nerd with daddy issues, Ultron had a cool voice but a boring plan and Thanos mainly just sits down a lot. The Mandarin could have been great, but the controversial twist undermines him and the less said about goth fan Ronan the Accuser the better. They say that a hero is only as good as their villain, so this has become a real problem as the bad guys all have the same basic goal; find the magical stone/cube/orb and destroy/take over the world with it. There are no stakes because the heroes are obviously going to win, so there€™s little reason to care by the time the third act arrives. Since Loki has made the change from villain to loveable anti-hero even he€™s lost his edge, so this is something Marvel really needs to fix in time for Phase Three.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
