10 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made MCU Phase Two Awesome

6. Recast Natalie Portman

Right from hiring Robert Downey, Jr. to play Iron Man Marvel were sending out a clear signal; that they would only hire the best available talent for their films. They continued this commitment to quality throughout much of their output - where else would you find Kenneth Branagh directing a movie about a guy with a magic hammer? So when Natalie Portman was hired for Thor it seemed to indicate that Jane Foster would be more than a mere love interest, though that promise has yet to be fulfilled. For all her talent Portman seems uncomfortable in both films; she has zero chemistry with Chris Hemsworth and the character has no real function outside of being Thor€™s girlfriend. Portman also appears to have no interest in the series outside of an occasional paycheck, having been a no-show in both Avengers movies. There's a rumour she was practically forced into making The Dark World after her choice of director dropped out. If she wanted to move on Marvel should have just let her go and recast with an actress who not only had some chemistry with Hemsworth, but looked like she wanted to be there too.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
