10 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made MCU Phase Two Awesome

7. Ben Kingsley Should Have Played The Real Mandarin

Opinions on the infamous Mandarin twist is divisive; some think it was sacrilege against a classic villain while others feel it was an inventive spin on an outdated stereotype. In terms of the film, Ben Kingsley was great in the part, but once it was revealed he was just part of an elaborate hoax it felt like the film was making fun of itself; the central threat of the film was completely undermined. Part of the disappointment for people who didn€™t like the twist is that Kingsley was really menacing as The Mandarin than he was funny as "Trevor", and that the film had actually managed to update the character in an organic way. If they had stayed the course then he could have been the first great villain of the Iron Man series, or the Marvel films in general. And we could have avoided the scene with Guy Pearce breathing fire too.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
