The Force Awakens was met with a surplus of excitement when it released its first trailer. When the movie had been released and all was said and done, fans were left satisfied, but wanting for more originality in the plot. When The Last Jedi was released it caused a huge divide in the fandom, becoming the year's most love-it-or-hate-it feature film.
To say that J.J. Abrams has a lot to do on his return to the series is an understatement. While The Rise Of Skywalker trailer begins with some promise and brings another original trilogy hero back in the form of Billy Dee Williams' Lando Calrissian, it is not until the final cackle of laughter that viewers are well and truly sold.
The menacing chuckle of course belongs to Emperor Palpatine, who was last seen in the movies, chronologically at least, tumbling to a presumed death at the hands of Darth Vader. The tease is enough to excite any fan back on board, and the prospect of where they will take the character in this final instalment in the Skywalker saga will surely fill cinema screens worldwide.
