10 Slated Movies That Are Nowhere Near As Bad As You Remember

7. Speed Racer (2008)

Speed RacerWhat Everyone Remembers: The Wachowskis' first movie after they'd finished punishing the Matrix franchise, Speed Racer only succeeded in giving pretty much everyone who laid eyes upon it a colossal headache, and forgot to craft a story that anybody cared about. Also: why did they make this? Did they think people actually wanted to see it? Why It's Nowhere Near As Bad: Despite its reputation as a steaming pile of (brightly coloured) manure, here's a movie that was unfairly panned upon first release, which - in turn - stopped people from going to see it. You don't hear much about Speed Racer nowadays, but it does have its loyal fans, many of whom will tell you that this is a brilliant and awesomely vibrant take on the anime from which it was adapted. If you can't get into the story, here's a picture that deserves to be appreciated on its visual terms - that's why it exists, after all. Call it misjudged, but you can't slate Speed Racer's intensity and anti-corporate themes. Eye candy of the highest order.
