10 Smartest Decisions In Fantasy Movie History
5. Weaponising A Severed Head - Clash Of The Titans
Clash of the Titans is a cinematic retelling of the Greek Myth of Perseus.
Itself a remake of the 1981 movie of the same name, the 2010 blockbuster boasted an impressive cast, although was not received particularly warmly by critics.
Tasked with finding a way to defeat the monstrous Kraken, Perseus instead seeks a means of defeating Medusa, a Gorgon capable of turning men to stone just by looking at them.
After the resourceful use of his polished shield to look at Medusa, Perseus is able to decapitate her, and takes her severed head with him.
Intending to use it as a weapon, Perseus confronts the Kraken and reveals the head, turning the colossal sea-monster to stone.
While the movie has its roots in classical mythology, the Kraken is actually borrowed from Norse mythology. Perseus did use Medusa's head as a weapon in the traditional Greek Myth, although it was used to turn King Atlas to stone instead of a giant sea-beast conjured by Hades.
Still, quick thinking for the adopted son of a fisherman.
