10 Smartest Horror Movie Decisions (That Still Got People Killed)

3. Meeting In A Public Place - The Invisible Man

10 Cloverfield Lane

Doing shady business has long been performed in the open - who would suspect the most secret of meetings to happen in the most public of places? Whether it's double agents reporting back on their findings, drug deals, or deciding an evil plan, movie characters just love getting together where people mask their presence just as much as they love hanging up the phone without saying goodbye.

Leigh Whannell's most recent take on The Invisible Man is another to buy into this trope, as the troubled Cecelia meets her sister in a restaurant in an attempt to dissuade the titular baddie from messing with her where others can corroborate her story. Only, what seems like a smart move that will ensure her safety has precisely the opposite effect: invisible Adrian slices her sister's throat before slipping the bloody blade into Cecelia's hand, effectively framing her for the murder before anyone catches another presence is in the room.

It's the most shocking moment of the movie that will leave your jaw on the floor. Whannell expertly takes a known safety trope and turns it on its head, with Cecelia's intelligent planning rendered useless.
