10 Songs That Need To Be In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

9. Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry

Given the more abrasive opening than previous movies, the soundtrack of this zany space adventure still has to be consistent with the previous films' more lighthearted tone. To come out of the blistering hard rock of the beginning, "Play That Funky Music" would be a nice way to bring the audience back into familiar territory.

Wild Cherry's infectious hit was the epitome of the late 70's, as it mixed both rock and funk in a way very few artists managed to accomplish at that era. The song's danceable rhythm and electrifying guitar solo makes it practically a shoe in for Peter Quill's new favorite song. In the context of the film, this could probably come in either when the gang is taking a break from all the action or when they're just coming across a minor threat.

Knowing Quill's character arc, it would most likely work wonders for his dance skills, as he knocks out foes while timing each of his punches perfectly to the song's rhythm. The space in the song would also lend itself well to different group shots of the team not unlike what Marvel's producers did in Avengers: Age of Ultron. After the seriousness of a movie like Endgame, "Play That Funky Music" could serve as the ultimate palette-cleanser for our latest space journey.
