10 Spider-Man Villains Sony Should Keep (& 10 They Should Lend To The MCU)
11. KEEP: Spencer/Alistair Smythe + Spider-Slayers
Spencer Smythe receives funding from J. Jonah Jameson to build robots called Spider-Slayers that can capture Spider-Man. After these robots fail and Spencer dies, his son Alistair seeks revenge on Spider-Man, enhancing himself to become the Ultimate Spider-Slayer.
It's way too easy to write in the Smythe family and their Spider-Slayers as rogue Stark Industries employees or under Justin Hammer's thumb. While B.J. Novak's presence in TASM2 was good enough for a cameo, the Smythe father and son duo should be revisited in Sony's Universe.
Sony would benefit from their own army of robots threatening the likes of Venom or Morbius. The father/son dynamic will work wonderfully if they use Spencer's death in one film to set up Alistair's rise in the second.
As for the Spider-Slayers, who says they need to be robots? The Slayers could begin as a simple "task-force" and be gradually enhanced by the Smythe family until they are formidable foes for the likes of Venom.
