Two weeks ago, J.J. Abrams posted a video promoting his Star Wars: A Force for Change initiative, filmed directly on the Abu Dhabi set of the movie. Mid-way through the video, we see an alien creature emerge into the frame, making snorting noises and hilariously milling about, even mugging at the camera. Abrams is oblivious at first, though eventually turns his attention briefly to the creature before continuing on, as it slinks out of frame. As the first footage from the set, this gave us our most prominent glimpse at not only Abrams' puppet-focused approach over CGI, but also how these things look in motion. It's one thing to see a convincing still of a puppet, but they only really come to life in the movement, and from this clip, fans can rest easy that the exotic alien creatures we feast our eyes upon are going to look completely awesome.
