10 Star Wars Episode 7 Set Photos You Have To See

4. Ralph McQuarrie Reference?

This image, set on what is presumed to be Tatooine, was caught by eagle-eyed Star Wars fans, who noticed a distinct similarity between the above-left arch structure and a drawing from late concept artist Ralph McQuarrie for Jabba the Hut's palace in Return of the Jedi, which just so happens to be stationed on Tatooine as well. The similarity in terms of design is startling, and though it's possible that this arch will ultimately just be a reference to the brilliant McQuarrie design, or perhaps it will be utilised in a different way, it is also possible that it will be the new gate for Jabba's (possibly still abandoned) palace. We'll have to wait and see, though it was obviously no coincidence that the set in part resembles some of the excellent, unused designs from the earlier movies, and hopefully we'll ultimately be seeing a lot more of the left-over ideas end up in Episode 7, especially if they look this amazing.
