10 Star Wars Theories That Make Appalling Sense

7. Anakin Skywalker Was Created By Palpatine

Anakin Skywalker's supposedly immaculate conception is the starting point for this theory, which states that it was something far more malign than the will of the Force that planted the embryonic Anakin in Shmi Skywalker's womb. Shmi interprets her unexplained pregnancy as a blessing, since it would be traumatising to imagine it was caused by something terrible. But tragically for her and everyone else, it was.

The culprit is Palpatine instead, in full Sith evil puppet master ode as Darth Sidious. Palpatine needed an apprentice, presumably deciding Count Dooku and Darth Maul weren't up to the task of destroying the Republic and avenging themselves on the Jedi.

So using the technique of creating life he hints at in Revenge of the Sith, he created a spawn of the dark side to be birthed by Shmi. Of all the bonkers Star Wars theories this might be the most plausible one, as it explains one of The Phantom Menace's biggest misfires (the whole virgin birth thing) and and elevates Palpatine's Machiavellian malevolence to even greater heights.
