10 Status Updates On Iconic Horror Franchises
6. Saw
Last Film Entry: Saw: The Final Chapter (2010)
What's going on? Jigsaw hasn't graced the big screen in five years, but there's little doubt that he won't resurface in some form down the line. Through seven films, the series consistently proved financially lucrative even in spite of dwindling critical approval thanks to their small budgets. And compared to some other horror franchises, Saw maintained a pretty tight continuity that was easy for fans to appreciate.
While there's no concrete information about the series returning to the big screen - or even shifting to the small screen, for that matter - rumors and statements from members of the creative team behind the franchise have spilled out over the last few years suggesting that there is still movement going on to find a way to jumpstart it.
Whether it's through another sequel, a complete reboot or even a rejiggering of the concept, it's not a matter of if but when Saw picks itself up off the bathroom floor to try and claim the Halloween season for itself again.
