10 Steps To Successfully Reboot The X-Men Into The MCU
4. Give Cyclops Something To Do For A Change
It would be more than an understatement to say that Fox's X-Men franchise consistently did the dirty on Scott Summers. The guy is supposed to be the heroic leader of a team of superheroes, but if your knowledge of the character was based entirely on the movies then you'd probably finding yourself wondering why the hell this guy is in charge.
Neither James Marsden or Tye Sheridan managed to do much with a character that came off about as one-dimensional in live-action as he must have been in the pages of the script, and when it comes to rebooting the X-Men then making Cyclops a truly worthy leader that both his teammates and audiences can believe in needs to be one of Marvel's top priorities.
On paper, Captain America was arguably the least interesting of the Avengers, but by carefully expanding and developing his character he turned into the beating heart of the entire MCU. The studio have already shown they know fine well how to create a leader that people would get behind without any questions asked, and now they need to work that magic on the X-Men to finally give Cyclops his due.
