10 Strangest Movie Changes Made After Filming
1. Cutting The Original Villain Out Completely - Thomas & The Magic Railroad
When it comes to frothy, apparently harmless family entertainment like 2000's Thomas and the Magic Railroad, you probably don't expect much in the way of post-production turmoil, right?
Except writer-director Britt Alcroft - who also created the TV series Thomas & Friends - revealed years later that she was forced by the film's producers to heavily reshape the film during editing.
First and foremost, she was given the head-scratching instruction to remove the movie's primary antagonist, P.T. Boomer (Doug Lennox), due to young test audiences finding him "too scary."
Rather than tone down his presence through editing and/or reshoots, Boomer was just... cut from the film almost entirely despite appearing in the movie's marketing. Instead, train Diesel 10 was rewritten to be the primary villain.
Boomer did sort-of get his time to shine eventually, however, when a workprint of the movie found its way online, restoring Boomer's part in all of its unnerving "glory."
