10 Strangest Movie Changes Made After Filming
2. Making The Blood Pink - Saw 3D: The Final Chapter
The seventh and "final" entry into the original run of Saw movies is an abject mess for many reasons, not least that it was the first - and thankfully only - film in the series to be shot in native 3D, resulting in a considerably more expensive and cumbersome production than prior films.
Typically 3D movies are tinted to be brighter during post-production in order to compensate for the dimming effect of 3D glasses, but in the case of Saw 3D, they also decided to colour-correct the blood throughout the film, giving it a pink-ish tint.
While during the movie's theatrical release this made some sort of sense, as the 3D glasses would dampen the pink and make it look more red, problems arose when it came to the film's home release.
Rather than re-grade the colours for the Blu-ray, the distributor simply sent out the theatrical version, ensuring that forever more, the home versions of Saw 3D have distractingly pink blood.
Some frustrated fans even ended up taking the matter into their own hands, creating re-coloured edits of the movie with the blood tinted back to a more realistic red hue.
