10 Stupid Comic Book Movie Deaths That Should Never Have Happened
2. Black Panther (Avengers: Infinity War)
If anything was made evident by Avengers: Infinity War, it was that the Russo Brothers were the best possible directors for the film and had joined the Coen brothers and the Wachowskis in the list of great movie-making siblings. But if it proved anything else, it was that nobody, not even Disney executives and producers, realized just how big Black Panther was going to be.
While more of King T'Challa and Wakanda were featured in post-production reshoots, there was still one glaring issue with his involvement in the film. Black Panther, who had led his solo movie to be a box office smash and the biggest cinematic culture bomb since the first Avengers movie, was killed off by Thanos's snap.
While it was inevitable he would be brought back, it was still a waste to cut him here. For one, the same emotional weight would be achieved by killing Okoye or Shuri. Second, Black Panther now has to deal with the fallout from the five-year blip between Infinity War and Endgame.
His movie showed that Wakandan politics are precarious in the best of times and five years without their king will have left his afro-futurist nation shattered. Black Panther 2 will have to be about T'challa's power struggle to regain the throne, waylaying any character development and world building to restore the status quo.
