1. Hellboy
Everyone's favourite devilish anti-hero Hellboy (before the hellish reboot), was many comic book fans' favourite hero adapted for screen.
In Guillermo del Toro's original two films we see Hellboy struggling to exist in a world that does not want to know him. Subverting the idea of a conventionally attractive hero like Captain America or Superman, Hellboy has super strength but is burdened by red skin and horns.
He is also the key that will usher in Hell onto the Earth, so he's not exactly your traditional hero.
Del Toro's vision for this world is flawless, and even though the CGI can be a bit poor at points the visuals stand up pretty well for a film that is nearly 15 years old. Shame the same can't be said for the remake.
