10 Superman Stories That Should Be Adapted Into Animated Films

9. Last Son

Last Son Zod Written by Geoff Johns with help by Richard Donner, a Kryptonian pod carrying a young child comes to Earth. Believing him to be another refugee from Krypton, Superman and Lois Lane take him in, adopting him as their son. Unknown to them though, he's the link between Earth and the Phantom Zone. Last Son reimagines, once again, the history between General Zod and the house of El as Zod and many other Phantom Zone convicts escape and wreak havoc on Earth. In order to defeat Zod, Superman must ally himself with several members of his rogues gallery, chief among them Lex Luthor. Last Son is an interesting story as it places Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the place of Jonathon and Martha Kent. Superman uses everything he was taught by his parents to help this child, Christopher Kent, adjust to a radical new world. The depictions of the villains, particularly of Zod and Luthor, are very well done as both are presented as more than maniacally laughing, moustache twirling villains, but as people with their own justifiable reasons. It also helps Richard Donner, the director of Superman and Superman II, was able to help craft the story. The only problem with adapting Last Son is using Zod as the main antagonist in a plot to rule over Earth as New Krypton, a plot with similarities to this summer's Man of Steel. Though it has huge differences with the inclusion of Chris Kent, Luthor and others, Last Son may be a bit redundant in the wake of Superman's latest big screen adventure.
