2. Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) - Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them

At the end of the first Harry Potter spin-off movie, the villainous Percival Graves (Colin Farrell) is revealed to actually be the legendary dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) in magical disguise.

And while the big reveal was undeniably shocking, it ultimately left audiences more amused than excited to see Depp in the sequel.

Between Depp's ridiculous white-haired get-up and how thoroughly unexpected his appearance was, it left many groaning that they'd have to sit through four more of these things with Depp as the big bad.

And while Depp was hardly the worst thing about the massively underwhelming Crimes of Grindelwald, his work didn't exactly inspire much hope that the character or the performance has enough in the tank to sustain three more planned movies.

Ever since the moment Depp was revealed, many have expressed their desire for Farrell to return as Grindelwald.

Though the villain's ability to shape-shift at least gives Warner Bros. an easy out if they do want to re-cast the character amid Depp's personal controversies, it seems more likely we're stuck with the troubled actor for the long haul.

And that's nothing against Depp as an actor, simply that he's a fundamentally daft, hammy pick for a role like this. Voldemort he ain't.
