10 Terrible Films From 2020 (That You Should Still Watch)
5. Fantasy Island
Coming to us from Blumhouse Productions, the same studio that gave us Insidious, The Purge, and Paranormal Activity, Fantasy Island failed to impress audiences and critics when it arrived on our screens in March. What else were we to expect when it was directed and co-written by Jeff Wadlow, the filmmaker behind Truth Or Dare?
An adaptation of the 1970s TV show of the same name, the film sees a group of contest winners arrive on the titular island where their fantasies are promised to become reality. However, these holidaymakers soon learn that they need to be careful what they wish for.
Panned for its lack of originality, nonsensical twists, and cast of flat, poorly acted characters, Fantasy Island is easily one of the most mind-numbing and uninspired horror films of the year. And with it currently sitting at 8% on Rotten Tomatoes, you’ll find a hard time finding another horror film this year that’s worse.
Fantasy Island is bad, but sometimes a bad horror film is just what a movie night needs. Enter with the right mindset and you might just have more fun than you’d think.
Besides, anything with Michael Peña is worth the price of entry.
