10 Terrible Horror Movies That Are Actually Awesome
7. Dead Snow (2009)
Dead Snow should not work, and yet its brilliant mix of insane comedy, over-the-top violence, and gleeful absurdism have successfully made it a cult favourite despite it being, all told, pretty awful as a whole.
The story of a gaggle of students forced to combat an invasion of Nazi zombies in the mountains of Norway, the silly horror-comedy combines its bonkers humour with some surprising well-crafted action sequences to create a wonderfully self-aware spectacle of guts and gore.
Its biggest flaws -- from its thin characterisations and exploitative violence -- stop Dead Snow from being a true masterpiece of the zombie genre, but certainly add to its otherwise thrilling insanity.
As far as bloody, unsubtle bursts of zombie mayhem go, Dead Snow is a terrible film that's all the more entertaining because it knows exactly how bad it really is.
