10 Terrible Mistakes That Almost Ruined The X-Men Movies For Everyone
10. Under-Utilisation Of Major Characters
The X-Men comics feature a huge number of brilliant and extremely popular characters, so it's certainly understandable that not all of them have made it to film yet. Nate Grey, Cable, Marvel Girl, Northstar, Magik and Dazzler are just some of the great characters yet to be utilised on film but, of the ones who have made it, you can't help but think that some of them have been badly under-utilised. The prime example of this is Nightcrawler. Alan Cumming portrayed the teleporting mutant in X2 - one of the best films in the series - and he was arguably the best thing about the movie. Indeed, his first scene (in which he attacked the U.S. President) was one of the best scenes in any comic book movie to date. And then he just disappeared. What a huge waste. Other extremely popular characters like Colossus and Iceman have been mostly under-utilised as well. These guys have been mainstays in the comic books for years - yet it took seven X-Men films for the pair of them to really come to prominence. Focusing on the popular characters, rather than cramming in as many as possible - particularly when the reception of said characters, like in Nightcrawler's case, was so good - should be something Fox focus on from now on.
