10 Terrible Movies Everyone Goes Way Too Easy On
4. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon
Depending on who you are, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen can be many things. For childhood fans it was the point when it became apparent Bay's version would have no redeeming features. For those new to the series with the first film in 2007 it was the moment to question if there was any creative merit in robots in disguise in the first place. And for the history books it's one of the worst movies of the twenty-first century.
You could follow it up with ten hour massage by Edward Scissorhands and Revenge Of The Fallen would still feel the worst way to pass the time. Dark Of The Moon is slightly better than Revenge Of The Fallen in the same way stubbing your toe is better than stubbing your toe twice. For everything improved upon, some dirt remains: there's less racial stereotyping, but the camera still clings to its female stars; this time the history messing has a cool idea of Transformers on the moon, but they also caused Chernobyl; the human characters try to be funny less, but they're still annoying. And the action is still totally incomprehensible.
So yeah, it's better, but not by much. Revenge Of The Fallen was only two years previous, so its wounds were still raw and it was easy to dismiss Dark Of The Moon as just another bad blockbuster. The same thing happened with 2014's Age Of Extinction; not being the worst shouldn't be a badge of honour.
