10 Terrifying Horror Movie Monsters With Very Little Screen Time

3. The Mutant Bear - Annihilation

Lamb Ending
Netflix

After watching Annihilation, viewers are left with more questions than answers. "What did that ending mean?" "What happened to Natalie Portman's character?" And most importantly, "How am I expected to sleep after that bear scene?" (Honestly, it's a fair question.)

In this cosmic mystery drama, four scientists - Lena, Anya, Josie, and Cass - enter a terrain called The Shimmer, which causes living species to merge with any organism nearby. One night, a mutated grizzly attacks the quartet, killing Cass in the process.

When the bear follows the remaining three scientists into a cabin, we get our first proper glimpse of the carnivorous chimera. Although the bear's body seems relatively normal, the skin on its head has eroded away, revealing a human-like skull and teeth embedded into its own.

It's not the bear's abnormal face that haunts us, but its voice. Because this abomination came into contact with Cass, it absorbed her DNA. Due to this, we hear Cass' dying screams every time this creature opens its mouth. Even though the concept of a skeletal bear is freaky, hearing one cry out "Help me" in a human voice is pure nightmare-fuel.
