10 Terrifying Horror Movies Starring MCU Actors

While Silence of the Lambs technically falls under the category of thriller and not horror, there is no denying that this classic movie helped to bring macabre and terrifying storytelling into the mainstream, and it deserves a tonne of credit for that. Despite its thriller handle, the film is a piece of pure horror, as there is plenty of gore, high tension and a terrifying performance from Thor's father, Anthony Hopkins.

Silence depicts the dynamic between Clarice Starling and the serial killing cannibal Hannibal Lecter. She uses his expertise as a criminal mastermind to try to stop the horrifying new serial murderer Buffalo Bill. However, as events proceed, Lecter becomes more and more infatuated with Clarice, and soon she finds that he has a way of getting into your head.

The characters in this movie are utterly iconic, as Foster and Hopkins had phenomenal chemistry. Seeing the pair entangled in a web of psychological manipulation and downright fear is gripping, and the mystery of Buffalo Bill is a perfect holding device for the pair's interactions.

Hopkins has worked the majority of his career around this role, as it granted him his Oscar win, and many people credit the performance as one of the scariest in cinema. If you haven't watched it, perhaps you should see and judge for yourself, if you dare.
