In Canadian body-horror The Void, doctors at an understaffed hospital are preparing to deliver a baby when the facility is suddenly surrounded by a mysterious cult whose presence seemingly drives one nurse insane before turning her into a tentacled monster.

The group eventually learn these incidents were caused by one of the senior doctors, Richard Powell, who made a pact with an interdimensional entity to resurrect his daughter, Sarah. But when Sarah is revived, she has no resemblance to what she once was, and instead of coming back as the innocent little girl that Powell knew, Sarah returns as a zombified heap of necrotic flesh. Watching this festering and bloated mass vomit tentacles onto its victims is a type of nightmare-fuel viewers probably didn't know existed.

What makes the Sarah-Creature more disturbing is the fact she's a victim. She didn't ask to be reborn but now finds herself trapped inside the most grotesque body imaginable, and the way she constantly moans and squeals indicates she's in immense pain and terrified beyond measure.

Though The Void has plenty of ghoulish imagery, it's the Sarah-Creature that will cause the most sleepless nights.
