Its one of the most famous (and most catchy) theme tunes ever written, but it looks as though Ray Parker Jr. found himself in a spot of bother after the films release... and its all because of a song by Huey Lewis and the News. Of course, Huey Lewis was originally brought on board to write the Ghostbusters theme tune. But the 80's pop rock legend was reluctant to work on yet-another soundtrack. After all, he had just contributed a number of songs to the Back to the Future soundtrack and didn't want to make a name for himself as a one-trick pony. But when negotiations fell through, they were forced to find a replacement... and soon turned to Ray Parker Jr. He eventually wrote the iconic theme tune that we all know and love... and is said to have come up with the line "who you gonna call" when he saw a commercial for a drain company in the early hours of the morning. But it's not quite that simple. Although Huey Lewis never contributed to the film, his song I Want A New Drug was used throughout production as a place holder for the film's theme tune. Ray Parker Jrs version bore such a resemblance to the song, that he was sued by the publisher for plagiarism. Eventually, the lawsuit was settled out of court, but here's I Want A New Drug and the Ghostbusters theme tune for you to have a listen for yourself.
