7. Develop Everyone's Characters

Every Multi-Doctor special bar Time Crash, which was not long enough, has been a crushing disappointment, however fun to view in a nostalgic light. The Three Doctors was The Two Doctors and one on a television reading cue cards. The Five Doctors was The Three Doctors with an adequate replacement and archive footage. But they were disappointing not so much because of this, or because of the production values, but because they were a gimmick and nothing much else. They chucked as many companions in as possible and the odd Dalek, but no past Doctor was developed. They just rocked up, made a few witty quips about their predecessors/successors, and then buggered off. No Doctor learned anything, or developed. We never saw a new side to them, and the actors werent able to give their all. This is where this special is different. In The Avengers, we see Thor has matured, Tony Stark is changing, Black Widow has faced her past, Bruce Banner is seen in a completely different light and has learned to live with The Hulk, Captain America is learning to adapt, and Hawkeyeeris Hawkeye. By the end of the film, everyone has been affected by the preceding events and evolved. The Multi-Doctor special is not just an excuse to bring all The Doctors together, it needs to do more than that. There should be a point to undertaking such a massive task. Theres so much meaty dramatic potential ripe for the picking from writer, directors and actors alike. Many might say a lot of the actors of older, larger, balder- whats the point? Theres every point! They are weak, and useless, and they need to show theyre not. Its something The Master can use against The Doctor, but by having their moments of glory, the older Doctors show that they may look older, but they are just as powerful as they were in their prime. Every Doctor needs to grow, or show us a side we never saw before. Im sure every actor wishes there was something they could have done in their prime with the character. Now is their chance! Because of the huge threat, the resurrection of 10 previous incarnations, the personal attacks from archenemies, The Doctor as a person can literally face himself. This has the potential to be the greatest ever Doctor Who episode, precisely because we learn all there is about being The Doctor.
